An Iowa teacher was found dead at his home on Sunday — three days after testing positive for coronavirus, a report said.
Jason Englert, 38, who taught in the talented and gifted program at Belmond-Klemme Community School District, was discovered at home during a police wellness check, school officials and family told the Des Moines Register.
The teacher had tested positive for COVID-19 on Nov. 5. Days earlier, a coronavirus outbreak at his district forced schools to switch to full time remote learning, the report said.
Englert also coached junior high volleyball and girls basketball. A career math teacher, Englert earlier this year switched gears, taking the job in the Belmond-Klemme Talented and Gifted program.
“It was a perfect position for him,” Englert’s aunt, Teresa Johnson, told the newspaper.
Englert’s cause of death has not yet been determined, the report said.
