Five U.S. states and the District of Columbia have yet to announce any move to end mask mandates in schools as the COVID-19 pandemic continues.

Fourteen states still require masks in schools, but 9 have either announced plans to end the mandates or are facing challenges or limitations regarding the restrictions, according to Education Week.
The five states are California, Hawaii, New Mexico, New York and Washington, all of which have Democratic governors.
