Coronavirus: California becomes first state with 700,000 cases, but curve is going down

On the same day California’s hospitalizations from COVID-19 fell below 4,000 in more than two months, the state also became the first to cross the 700,000-case threshold — a positive sign but also the result of a sixth-month battle with the COVID-19 pandemic.
