SAN JOSE – Officers were involved in a standoff with a possibly armed man Monday evening in San Jose’s Alum Rock neighborhood.
The episode started about 1:35 p.m., when a man with a handgun in his waistband ran from officers in the area of South White Road and Alum Rock Avenue, the San Jose Police Department said in a social media post.
Both directions of Alum Rock Avenue were closed between South White Road and Viewmont Avenue while officers searched for the man.
Officers tracked the man to a residence on Millar Avenue, where he remained barricaded as of 6 p.m., police said.
Police said surrounding homes have been evacuated and the road closure remains in place.

Units are currently in the area of S White Rd and Alum Rock Av investigating a call where an adult male fled from Officers on foot. A handgun was visible in his waistband.
