One day after his team crushed the Knicks, Pacers coach Rick Carlisle has entered the NBA’s health and safety protocols.
Carlisle had a positive result on a rapid test following Wednesday’s 122-102 win over the Knicks. He is awaiting the result of an additional PCR test, according to ESPN and The Athletic.
The Pacers and the Raptors, who the Knicks will visit Friday, both canceled scheduled practices Thursday “out of an abundance of caution.” Per international guidelines, the Knicks had to be tested before entering Canada and then again before returning to the United States.
Carlisle, who is vaccinated, will have to sit out at least Friday’s game against his former team, the Mavericks. He coached them for 13 seasons before resigning in June. Pacers guard Justin Holiday has missed their past four games after testing positive for COVID-19 in late November.
