The Illinois Department of Public Health on Tuesday reported 1,549 newly confirmed cases of the coronavirus statewide, and 20 additional deaths of people with COVID-19. The state has reported 196,948 known cases and 7,657 deaths during the course of the pandemic. The seven-day average statewide positivity rate was 4.1% as of Monday. It was 2.9% a month earlier.
