The state on Wednesday reported 7,538 newly diagnosed cases, resulting from a batch of 71,857 tests conducted over a 24-hour period. The statewide positivity rate for new cases as a share of total tests conducted was 8.5%, up more than 2 percentage points from a week earlier, when it was 6.4%.
