Cal football: Bears set to open Pac-12 coronavirus-impacted season at Oregon State

Cal football: Bears set to open Pac-12 coronavirus-impacted
season at Oregon State 1

The Pac-12 announced its coronavirus-shortened football schedule Friday afternoon, sending the Cal Bears to visit Oregon State for their Sept. 26 opener. That is, provided the season goes on at all.

Earlier this month, the conference canceled all non-conference games for football and other fall sports that compete in the Pac-12, such as women’s volleyball and men’s and women’s soccer.

After visiting Corvallis, the Bears will head south to Los Angeles to face USC in their second matchup.

Their first home date, albeit without fans, will be Oct. 10 against Washington.

The Big Game will be played much earlier than normal this year when the Bears host Stanford Oct. 24, followed by a bye week built into the schedule to guard against the possibility of games being canceled.

Cal’s lone weekday game is in the season’s final week, when it host UCLA on Friday, Dec. 4. After that week’s games, there is another bye week to allow for more potential make-up games.
