Fans of the barbecue and other American comfort food at Palo Alto’s historic MacArthur Park restaurant have convinced the owners to reverse their plan to shut down until indoor dining resumes.
“After we announced our full temporary closing, all hell broke loose — in a heart-warming, positive way,” spokesman Michael Davis said Tuesday. “Our phones did not stop ringing off the hook and our last two nights for outdoor dining were completely booked, as well as to-go orders.”

The restaurant has now reopened for pickup and delivery of barbecue ribs and chicken, mesquite-grilled salmon, salads, cocktails and more from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.
Outdoor dining may resume soon too — though indoor ambiance has been a historic draw here. The 1918 building designed by famed architect Julia Morgan as a World War I social center.
Poursohi sprang onto the Bay Area restaurant scene in 1981, when he was recruited to become executive chef here. The restaurant has been a favorite for special occasions, banquets and business meetings ever since.
