Two of the people in the suspect vehicle, which ended up in ditch on the west side of southbound Indiana 49, got out and ran toward Calumet Avenue, Fifield said. One of them, identified as Aries E. Atlas, 25, was taken into custody at the Phillips 66 gas station after using a stun gun, he said. The second person to flee — identified as Samuel A. Kuhl, 29 — evaded police until Sunday morning, when someone called Chesterton Police reporting a suspicious man asking to use the phone at the same Phillips 66 gas station, police said. Kuhl swore at the officers and attempted to flee once again but was quickly caught and arrested, Fifield said.
