I heard such great thing about this water filter, so I bought one. I’m so sorry I wasted my $200+. First of all, the instructions were not helpful in assembling the filter, it seems like a non English speaker wrote the instructions and diagrams. So I finally turned to YouTube for instructions, and figured it out. Then, two days later, it wouldn’t filter any water. It just sat n the upper chamber, and didn’t drip through. So, according to the website I needed to clean the filters, which I did. It worked again for two days, and is now not filtering again. I’m just using city water, not river water, so I don’t understand why the filters need cleaning every two days. That’s a big waste of time and water, since I have to pour out all the water that’s just sitting in there to take it apart to clean it every other day. I totally regret this purchase! And I’m about to toss this horrible thing in the trash!

In the beginning it was great and tasted amazing, but after 6 months I did the red food color test with Mccormick red food coloring and it’s not filtering out the food color at all. I tried calling the help line from the distributor from it seems the number has been disconnected so I can’t call in for help or replacement filters.

Bought this filter back in May 2016 after doing research on filtration systems. The Berkey Travel fit perfect on our counter top. Product showed up in great condition, and could taste the difference in our water immediately. Unfortunately, one of the filters had a defect on the plastic threading and it ended up stripping the washer that is used to hold it on to the upper chamber. I did my best to clean up faulty threading and purchased a replacement washer so the filter would hold in place with enough tension to create a seal. When I did the red dye test the water was coming through pink. On both filters. Sad face. I washed and primed both several times and still have pink water coming through.Doing some quick searching, it turns out that Berkey Black filters have been known to have manufacturer defects. We will be continuing to use the system, but likely with Doulton 7″ filters in place of the Berkey Black filters that come with this. Cheaper, and if all goes well they will actually do the job of filtering the water.

Yep it leaked from the start..which is’nt mentioned in the propaganda but is mentioned in the instructions.OK try to get water to come out the spigot..drips a bit but you need to take the top container off to break the vacuum. LOTTA MONEY FOR THIS. Who can tell about the quality of the water…other filter manuf. can sell in Calif. and Iowa and don’t need to try to explain away the reasons why they can’t sell there. Pay the money…take your chances..works when you play carnival games.right? I suggest buying a kiddie monocular micrpscope on amazon for about $12.00 and look at your water before and after filtering..then write your own review about the water purification claims and what you have seen yourself.

Highly recommend. We started a parasite cleanse after a friend did theirs. The realization that so much unknown is in our drinking water I did the research to find the best filtration system for our water. This is it! Told my doctor about it and he has this brand as well. No more bottled water. We have a 3 ft tall refrig for water bottles only. NO MORE. I have all stainless steel bottles that I fill and use my Lemon essential oil for YL in the bottles to help my pH. You can’t put that in plastic bottles. I purchased the travel size and it’s perfect for 2 people. I will never go with bottled water again unless I’m on the road without my Berkey water. Also many studies have proven that Bisphenol A, commonly referred to as BPA, can negatively impact fertility in both men and women and has also been linked to obesity. Don’t believe it? The science doesn’t lie: A 2011 Harvard study found that adults with the highest concentration of BPA in their urine had significantly larger waists and odds of being obese than those in the lowest quartile. I won’t be drinking water from anything else for the rest of my whole life except water filtered in our Berkey. The clean chemical free taste-free water from our Berkey hands down even tastes better than Evian (which I LOVE). It arrived safely packaged, I followed the directions, and it was up and running within 20 minutes. We bought the travel Berkey and it works great for our family of two. We live in a city that’s city water has too much of something?chlorine. And probably a lot of other things we didn’t want to keep consuming. We’ve used Pur filters for almost 10 years and our water still tasted weird not to mention Pur filters lasted us approx. 25 days a piece. My husband didn’t entirely sign on with me spending a bit over $228 for our Berkey, but once he tasted the water he told me he’ll never be without one again. He is sold on it and uses it for anything and everything we use water in, plus he himself is now drinking approx. 50 oz. of water a day. Win-win! We ordered the stainless steel spigot right away because we were worried we would break the plastic one with our constant use. We love the sturdiness of the stainless steel spigot. Our Berkey is easy to clean, easy to use, and we’re never without it. We love our Berkey Travel and highly recommend it to everyone.

Las Vegas water tastes horrible. I’ve used a Brita for years but it still tastes awful. I saw this and heard you can put pond water in and it’s drinkable. I wondered if this could do the impossible- make Las Vegas water actually taste amazing. I decided to give it a try because I hate buying bottled water. I love that this isn’t plugged into anything and it’s aesthetically pleasing. Anyway, the Berkey has worked like a dream and I love how the water tastes!

Here in France the village water taste is not consistent which means I do what a lot of French people do: buy bottled water and then recycle all the plastic. After having the water tested I ordered the Berkey and am delighted with the way our ordinary tap water, when filtered through the Berkey, tastes so much better. And, most importantly, it cuts down on the tsunami of plastic which we must all consider.A PROBLEM FOR BERKEY! The filter sits on top of my counter and is elevated even further by the stand. The problem is that at that height, I can’t see how much water is left in the system and several times I’ve come in to find a bit of a flood. I know this is a technical issue which would probably bump the price up, but there’s no other way except to put a small vertical peep-hole on the side. It’s a little thing and now I know about how much I’m drinking and how much to top up but still, it would be useful.As for guarantees – a question someone asked; I don’t know. Excellent product.We bought this in order to be more sustainable as we drink about two 500ml plastic bottles of spring water per day. The flavour of the filtered water is as good as, if not better than the spring water we normally buy – plus we no longer generate almost 30 non-recyclable plastic bottles per week!We also now use it in our automated coffee machine.The system is of sufficient capacity for the two of us and generally easy and convenient to use. The only downside is that because of the filter nozzles sticking out of the bottom of the top chamber it cannot be easily rested on a flat surface to fill it and is therefore a little cumbersome and heavy to hold when full of water. Filtration is more rapid than I had anticipated.An external indicator (or a window) to show the water level remaining would be useful and would save having to take the two components apart.

After hearing about this a while ago and saving for it I am delighted to finally be using it.I have used tap water so far and it takes far better and cleaner than my Brita jug.The travel Berkey is ample size for a couple or family of 3.It is a bit costly at first but am sure it will be cheaper than bottle water and Brita cartridges in the long run.

Acheté par mesure de précaution pour filtrer quotidiennement l’eau du robinet.Je suis pleinement satisfait du résultat, enleve le mauvais goût (l’impression de boire de l’eau en bouteille).Merci au vendeur pour son sérieux : livraison rapide (commandé le jeudi soir et reçu le lundi), colis très bien emballé/protègé + facture.Dimensions conformes à la description. La contenance d’eau est d’environ 4,5 litres ce qui convient largement pour les besoins de 1 à 4 personnes. Équipé de ces 2 filtres “black” il met approximativement (j’ai pas chronométré) 30-40 min pour filtrer 4 litres.Très bonne qualité/finition, ne dénote absolument pas dans une cuisine (perso je le trouve même très jolie).Idéal pour emporter en vacance plutôt que d’acheter des bouteilles d’eau (d’autant plus que l’élément du haut se range dans celui du bas = encombrement divisé x2).Lorsque l’on part en rando ou travail j’utilise des gourdes de la marque “Klean Kanteen” (tout inox bouchon y compris, saine et facile a nettoyer, grande variété de contenance : 0,250 a 3 litres) plutôt que d’utiliser des gourdes plastique ou alu “toxique”.Notice en Anglais mais montage et mise en service relativement simple/rapide (10-15 min maxi) même si pas anglophone les schémas sont suffisamment explicites.Pour ceux qui ne souhaitent pas le laisser au bord d’une table ou plan de travail pensez a acheter le support pour le surélever (48€).

Really expensive, easy to put together, filters are a bit tricky to get started but once you get going it is okay. Disappointed thought we would get a water testing kit to know when the filter needs changing. Not sure if we can use more than the black filters at the same time as the white filters. How will we know the filters need changing?

As others have said, it leaks! Why any company would spoil a product by supplying a cheap and ineffective tap is beyond me. Only buy if you’re prepared to spend another £40 on a stainless steel tap.

I filter the two water and my well water and both are beautifully clear (a novelty where I live , the water is nearly always merkey) and it tastes great.I had a small issue with the two which the seller immediately sorted, so am very happy.I have ordered a water tester so will update once I have results
