I work in the medical field and am a compulsive hand washer. As soon as Fall comes, with it comes the cracking and splitting of the corners of my fingers. It is amazing how painful this can be! My go to has been regular bandaids and neosporin at bedtime. In extreme times I have used a medical version of crazy glue. However, this will only get me so far the next day and then the splits start getting worse. Then I read an article how professional string musicians would use liquid bandages on their fingers to help the splitting. So…I ordered some. After a week of devoted use, I find that the New-Skin Liquid Bandage isn’t as good as I had hoped. It burns like holy hell when applied and doesn’t hold the skin together for very long, if at all. I tried applying layers – didn’t work. I applied less – also didn’t work. So I went back to wrapping my finger tips every night in neosporin and wrapping them in bandaids until I can find another solution.

New Skin is essential for the regular surfer. I have it in my medicine cabinet, my car and at my apt. in Costa Rica. Whenever I get a cut, which happens more as I age, I just paint it with New Skin and have no worries about losing a bandage while surfing. It also lets a cut dry, which a wet bandage does not. And New Skin keeps out the dirt.

This product stings and takes 2-3 applications to build up a sufficient barrier to protect a nick on one of my fingers (usually from routine household chores, garden work, a clipped hangnail). I’ve also used the LiquidSkin Pro, and while their packaging leaves something to be desired (as the tube needs to sit upright or the liquid will leak into the cap and crust over), it works much much better to protect little cuts and nicks from daily abrasion and irritation, and it doesn’t sting at all.

I love this stuff! I’d cut my knuckle on a sharp can lid and even with Band-Aids, due to it’s unfortunate location the Band-Aids had a difficult time covering it and when I took it off the cut eventually opened again and bled. I put some of this on it and the bleeding stopped right away and I had no issues with bending my finger like I had with a bandaid. Also, since it just eventually rubs off, I had no issues showering or anything. It’s a great way to help your body heal without an inconvenient bandage, especially for knuckles or other places that need to bend unobstructed.

This is excellent for healing cuts /scrapes quickly! Incredible for small cuts, scrapes & pulled/torn cuticles/ fingernails broken at the bed of the nail. Using it especially for sensitive hand and finger cuts/scrapes!Usually multiple (2-4) brief applications needed to place a firm waterproof protection barrier . It has remarkable healing properties. It stops minor (but painful) cuts/scrapes from getting infected! Small infected cuts/scrapes can & does draw out a minor infection (not to mention soreness).Important: 1 bottle should Not be used by more than one person! Due to repeated applications (per bottle) per cut. It is the same brush going back in the bottle and on to the cut/scrape. Recommend cleaning wound first before applying. If opened to the air & stored on shelf and then reused after time the product turns yellow (and remains yellow). It will then be applied dark yellow color. It will still work-but it it is no longer clear application.

OK, it stinks a bit but so does the iodine my Mom used to apply. This stuff is great, better than bandages, especially if you are going to get wet. I am always getting nicks and cuts from working in the shop, woods, or fields so I slap this stuff on. I normally put on two layers, sometimes 3, for bigger cuts. If it’s on a knuckle or joint that moves a lot, you may need to reapply a couple times over a few days. But this stuff helps keep cuts clean, and they certainly heal faster when protected this way. It’s not cheap on a volume basis, but bandages are silly expensive for what they cost to manufacture and they are always falling off. I love this product and highly recommend it.

I purchased this after a family member recommending it. I am very disappointed. I’ve attempted to use it multiple times and it doesn’t even begin to do what it implies. First off, it burns so badly upon application. I originally purchased this because my son refuses band aids so I thought this would be a great alternative. I would NEVER recommend applying this to a child do to the burning. Secondly, the few times I’ve used it, it has never created any type of barrier even after multiple layers of new skin on a small scratch/cut area. Don’t waste your money here.

I came across a pin where someone used this on acne and other facial imperfections to be able to apply makeup over them. It seems to work for this about half the time. Sometimes it seems to run rather than stay in the area it has been applied, and some sores will continue to bleed up and around the product. It has a very strong smell and it really stings, but both the smell and pain dissipate pretty quickly. The bottle and the smell are actually very similar to a wart-remover I’ve tried, so I could see this getting switched very easily and thus being a problem. Definitely something to be wary of.

  9. VIIIpinches

Not up to the promise as mentioned in the product description.I had cracked finger tips and couldn’t help to keep them dry so bought this product which was not to any help.It might be a great help for any other bruise sites but I found it useless and waste of money. Moreover, it came with expiry in Jan 2020 and already conditioned for no return so that was an added agony too!

  10. Amazon Customer

Good product. I used it in the past. It burns initially, but holds very well in outdoor conditions. Waterproof too. I’m giving 4 stars because it took long to ship it. Nothing to do with the product.

  11. Becky Galbraith

This product takes a long time to dry and you have to put a lot of layers on to fix a skin crack. It doesn’t stand up well and starts to peal off right away.

  12. Client d’Amazon

  13. Amazon Customer

I find it expensive for such a small quantity. I believe the product should be sold in a spray form ! Contamination risk ?

    Good product

  17. Dale Pack

Wonderful addition to anyone’s first aid kit. It’s my go to choice for treatment on cuts & when a blister leaves raw skin exposed. Yes it stings for a few seconds when the first coat it applied but it’s well worth the few seconds to block out infection. Great on paper cuts or splits in winter dry skin on fingertips. Holds up very well if you take a swim. When a bandaid won’t work this product does wonderfully.

  18. Stan

Works well, kind of super glue for skin. Looks the same, holds well
