Researchers at the Brown School of Public Health released a time-lapse Thursday that illustrates the spread of coronavirus across the United States since March.
“Currently, there are twice as many daily COVID-19 cases as after Memorial Day,” staff at Brown wrote on Twitter, releasing the video. “Cases are rising in 25+ states with the heartland most affected.”
As of Friday, more than 7 million people across the country have contracted COVID-19, with more than 212,800 Americans killed by the virus, according to coronavirus tracker from Johns Hopkins University.
The new time-lapse, put together along with the Harvard Edmond J. Safra Center for Ethics and Microsoft AI for Health, shows the pandemic “untamed,” Brown said.
“We have all lived through this — the huge burden in the Northeast in the spring, the summer spike in the South, and now, the upper Midwest all red,” Ashish Jha, dean of the Brown School of Public Health, wrote on Twitter of the video. “Our lives and our nation over the past 7 months in 50 seconds.”
