multiple cases 1

A Walmart in Aurora has been shut down by health officials because of three coronavirus deaths associated with the business as well as multiple cases.

The Walmart, at 14000 East Exposition, is closed by order of the Tri-County Health Department in connection to the deaths of an employee, a store security guard, and an employee’s husband, according to a news release.

“There are six additional confirmed cases among employees,” the release said. There are three additional cases connected to the business awaiting lab confirmation.

Walmart staff and officials are being cooperative with the closure and an ongoing investigation, the health department said.

“We are extremely saddened by this news and offer our deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of the three people we lost,” said Dr. John M. Douglas Jr., executive director of Tri-County Health Department in the release. “These deaths underscore the severity of the highly-contagious coronavirus, and the need for diligent safety precautions to prevent any further spread, including the wearing of masks.”

A 72-year-old female employee and her 63-year-old husband, who did not work at the store, have died of coronavirus, along with a 69-year-old man who worked for an independent security company.
