Saturday Night Live may have set up some strict protocols for returning to the studio, but this week’s musical guest is throwing them all out the window. Country singer Morgan Wallen, who’s set to perform on the Oct. 10 SNL show with host Bill Burr, was seen partying it up down south over the weekend, TMZ reports.
If this were any other year, we really couldn’t care less what the upcoming SNL musical guest was doing over the weekend, but since we’re living in a pandemic, Wallen’s behavior has been raising some eyebrows. The former The Voice contestant was in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, for a Texas A&M football game, where, no PPE in sight, he got up close and personal with plenty of adoring fans.
And what do you do when you meet one of your favorite celebrities? Share it on social media, of course. So now footage of Wallen’s Saturday night activities — which include kissing multiple women, taking shots and heading to a house party and a crowded bar, all without wearing a mask — are everywhere on TikTok.
The videos sparked outrage online, with many calling Wallen out for his behavior. “I shit you not I watched morgan wallen kiss about 30 girls on tiktok yesterday…” one Titter user wrote, while one added, “So bama girls said what’s covid? and passed around morgan wallen like the sisterhood of the traveling pants.”
“I think it’s safe to say Morgan Wallen is single-handedly keeping Coronavirus alive and well down south,” another tweeted.
Wallen’s weekend antics are far from what SNL has laid out in its coronavirus plan. To keep cast, crew and audience members safe, the show is requiring that its in-studio audience take a rapid test and check their temperature before coming in, only buy tickets for people in their social bubble, answer a series of coronavirus questions before the show, and wear a mask while inside the studio.
No word yet on whether the singer is still this Saturday’s musical guest.
