Coronavirus infections continue to tick up in the Bay Area after California surpassed 100,000 cases Wednesday.

No new deaths have occurred in counties reporting new data as of Thursday morning.

San Mateo County surpassed 2,000 total cases with the addition of 59 new COVID-19 infections since Wednesday, hitting 2,022 cases overall. The county’s death count has remained at 82 since last reporting six new deaths on Tuesday. Fifty-four people are hospitalized with the illness — down three people since Wednesday — with the number in the intensive-care unit holding steady at 20 people.

San Francisco County meanwhile reported 29 new cases for a total of 2,437, with the death toll unchanged from 40 since the pandemic began. The county’s most recently available hospital data is from Tuesday, when 57 people confirmed to have COVID-19 were hospitalized with the illness and 20 people were in the ICU.

Contra Costa County reported nine new cases for a total of 1,384. Its overall death total is 37, with no new COVID-19 related deaths since Monday. Thirteen people are hospitalized with the illness, down two people since Tuesday. Of the county’s 1,384 cases, more than 20% are concentrated in the city of Richmond with 280 cases, followed by the city of Concord with 137 cases.

Alameda and Santa Clara counties had not yet reported new numbers as of 11:30 a.m. Thursday. Check back for updates.
