Rocky Mountain National Park will partially reopen on Friday after a 15-day park-wide closure due to the East Troublesome Fire.
The areas reopening include Wild Basin, Longs Peak, Lily Lake, Twin Sisters and Lumpy Ridge. Colorado 34 through the Fall River Entrance to Many Parks Curve and Endovalley Road will also reopen. Old Fall River Road will be open to bicycles, leashed pets and walkers.
Areas on the east side that will remain closed include North Boundary Trail, the North Fork Trail and Mummy Pass, Stormy Pass, Commanche Peak and Mirror Lake Trails. U.S. 36 past the Beaver Meadows Visitor Center to Deer Ridge Junction, including the Beaver Meadows Entrance and Bear Lake Road, remain closed.
The west side of the park will also remain closed due to the severity of the wildfire impacts. Safety assessments are still ongoing.
The park was closed Oct. 22 after the East Troublesome Fire exploded overnight and entered the park.
