The longtime Patriots offensive coordinator, 45, has a deal in place to become the new head coach of the Las Vegas Raiders, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

McDaniels, who served as the Broncos’ head coach from 2009-10, won’t be the only Patriot heading west. Dave Ziegler, New England’s director of player personnel, has been hired as Las Vegas’ new general manager, the team announced.

Ziegler and McDaniels worked together in Denver as well.

The Raiders have endured a flurry of changes over the past few months, beginning in October with the departure of head coach Jon Gruden. Gruden resigned after it was revealed he had used homophobic, racist, and misogynistic language in emails when he was a “Monday Night Football” analyst.

Rich Bisaccia was named the interim head coach in the wake of Gruden’s exit and led the team to a playoff berth. Following the team’s wild-card loss to the Bengals earlier this month, the Raiders announced they had fired general manager Mike Mayock, who was initially hired in 2018.

McDaniels, who famously spurned the Colts in 2018 to return to New England, also reached the wild-card round this year. The Patriots were subsequently destroyed by the Bills, their AFC East rival.
