Witnesses at the scene said reporters, protesters and legal observers weren’t given enough time to leave the area before cops began making arrests. The reporter who was briefly detained, James Queally, criticized the LAPD’s response to the protest, but he said some people did hit officers with strobe lights and taunted them.
