A man who allegedly opened fire in the Encore Boston Harbor casino garage last week was arrested Tuesday in Salem, according to a statement from state police.

Steven Gonzalez, 33, has been charged with armed assault with intent to murder, discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a building, carrying a firearm without a license, and unlawful possession of ammunition.

On Dec. 1, state and Everett police officers responded to a report of gunshots in the casino’s garage, authorities said.

Police found ballistic evidence and discovered that a man, who they say is Gonzalez, fired multiple rounds at a group of men following an altercation, according to the statement.

Investigators say that Gonzalez, whose last known address was in Peabody, fled the area on foot and was picked up by someone in a car.

Police don’t believe that anyone was struck by the gunfire.

On Tuesday, a multi-agency team of state police, U.S. Marshals, and local officers went to the Salem apartment where Gonzalez was staying, and arrested him without incident, according to the statement.
