They’re putting the coronavirus doldrums to bed.
From cutting bangs to turning their bedrooms into virtual zoos, bored isolationists have dreamt up increasingly troubling ways to stave off coronavirus cabin fever.
But few compare to social-media influencer Conor McKenzie, who performed an elaborate runway show during lockdown while wearing nothing but a blanket, as seen in a scintillating Facebook video with over 5 million views.
“I have this really gorgeous blanket on my bed, I was like let me see if I can play around,” McKenzie, 25, tells The Post, adding that he wanted to “bring a smile to people’s faces.”
The resultant 1-minute video uploaded Tuesday for Conor’s 300,000 ‘Gram followers, depicts the New York City-based model strutting about the house while sporting the same blanket seven different ways. In one shot, McKenzie can be seen swaggering up to the fridge in the blue-velvet bedding that he’s skillfully arranged to form a flowing ascot.
Then the music switches and the “Bad Boys of Dance” soloist seductively catwalks toward the camera while draped in a makeshift superman cape.
McKenzie tells The Post that he’d originally sported the blanket to entertain himself during lockdown. However, a compliment from his roommate inspired the dancer to create an eye-popping home fashion show with the blanket.
Needless to say, the brand ambassador’s impromptu pageant has gone viral, racking up almost 300,000 views on Instagram, and oodles of compliments from social-media fashionistas.
“Once more the lgbt community blesses us with the best covid content,” fawned one fan on the ‘Gram.
“Coming up on Next in Fashion,” commented another on McKenzie’s “blanket statement.”
But really, McKenzie walked so a whole other squad of bedding fashionistas could run. Other isolated Instagrammers have turned to dressing up in their bedding in a ludicrous trend called the “#thequarantinepillowchallenge.” They’re turning their pillows into edgy looks, complete with cinching designer belts.
Call it quarantine chic.
