An off-duty Suffolk County police officer was killed early Monday morning when his Jeep left the road in Selden and crashed into a median, authorities said.

Vincent Pelliccio, 30, of Port Jefferson Station, was driving a 2021 Jeep northbound on Nicolls Road, near West Road, at 12:40 a.m. when his vehicle left the roadway and crashed, Suffolk police said. He was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

Pelliccio, an officer in the Third Precinct in Bay Shore, had been a member of the department since December 2014.

He was off-duty at the time of the single-vehicle crash.

The Jeep was impounded for a safety check.
