Letter: Sweden’s COVID-19 effort won’t destroy the
economy 1

Since the majority of countries aspire to social distancing, business and school lockdowns, one can consider them the control group.

Sweden has taken a moderate path that does not destroy their economy.

The government demonstrates trust in their citizens to maintain social distancing, wash their hands frequently and avoid crowds. Schools are open, as are restaurants and bars. The elderly and those with morbidities are urged to voluntarily isolate.

Therefore, one can consider Sweden the experimental group.

Why is the media not acknowledging Sweden’s existence and participation in the pandemic? They are the experimental group. It would be helpful to compare daily infection and mortality figures from Sweden to other countries. What if Sweden’s figures are comparable without economic destruction and coercion?
