Money Heist Season 5 Part 2 was released on Friday, December 3, bringing the show’s 3-season arc covering the Bank of Spain robbery to a close.
The crime drama revealed how The Professor (Álvaro Morte), Lisbon (Itziar Ituño), Denver (Jaime Lorente), Rio (Miguel Herrán), Helsinki (Darko Perić), Stockholm (Esther Acebo), Palermo (Rodrigo de la Serna), Bogotá (Hovik Keuchkerian), and Manila (Belén Cuesta) managed to pull off their latest heist.
But while their second heist has ended, the way in which the story concludes allows for the possibility of more — if the creators so choose.

How ‘Money Heist”s final episodes leaves the door open for Season 6
While the gang of thieves succeeded in extracting the gold from the bank, it was stolen by Berlin’s ex-wife Tatiana (Diana Gómez) and his son Rafael (Patrick Criado).
However, after an arduous search, former inspector Alicia Sierra (Najwa Nimri) managed to find it again and, despite a tense stand-off with Tatiana and Rafael, gives Berlin’s son a note from The Professor that persuades him to give up the gold and let it be transported to Portugal.
Meanwhile The Professor and Lisbon negotiate with Colonel Luis Tamayo (Fernando Cayo) to let them and their fellow thieves out of the bank on the pretence that they were killed by the army.
They convince Tamayo that, rather than actually killing them and admitting he lost the country’s entire supply of gold, it would be better for him to accept the gold coated brass they provided to replace it and let them go, because otherwise it would have dire consequences on Spain’s economy.
Then, 24 hours after Tamayo lies to the press about how they were killed, the group reconvene at a military air base where they are given new identities from the government and are allowed to live the rest of their lives under the radar.
By having a happy ending and allowing all of the characters — bar Tokyo (Úrsula Corberó) and Nairobi (Alba Flores) — to live, it provides the possibility of them being seen again.
The group are never seen getting the gold they worked so hard to steal. It is implied that they will eventually have it, but it’s never explicitly shown, thereby leaving the story open-ended.
Tatiana and Rafael’s future is also left very much in the air, and the audience are not shown exactly what The Professor’s note to his nephew said to convince him to give up the gold in the first place.
With unanswered questions like these it’s sure to make viewers wonder if there could be a chance of there being more to Money Heist in future.
Does the creator of ‘Money Heist’ want to make a Season 6?
Unfortunately for those hoping for a Season 6, creator Álex Pina and the executive producers of the show have openly said they are not interested in making another.
At a virtual press conference, which Newsweek attended, they said they had written the final episodes so they didn’t “[leave] the door open for a sixth or seventh season,” regardless of the unanswered questions.
Instead, they are now focused on making a prequel series titled Berlin which will focus on the character of the same name, played by Pedro Alonso.
Money Heist Seasons 1 to 5 are out now on Netflix.
