The spread of COVID-19 in India goes far beyond packed urban populations; it now is spreading rapidly in rural areas that are already faced with poorer health care systems. According to the Health Ministry, 4,529 Indians died due to coronavirus, bringing the new total of confirmed deaths to 283,248. Health experts have already said that these numbers are likely undercounted.
