Two Chicago police officers and a third person were shot Sunday in Homan Square on the West Side.
The officers were shot about 2:33 a.m. in the 3300 block of West Polk Street, according to Chicago police.
One other person, who may have been the shooter, was also wounded, police said. It was not immediately clear whether that person was shot by officers.
The officers were taken to Stroger Hospital, but their conditions were not known, CPD spokesman Tom Ahern said.
Chicago Fire Department officials said the officers were brought to the hospital by other police officers. The suspect was taken via ambulance to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood in critical condition, but has been stabilized.
On Saturday morning, a CPD officer was hit by a stolen vehicle in Hyde Park, authorities said. The officer fired his weapon, but no one was hit.
Earlier this month, another officer was shot while responding to a domestic dispute in Lawndale on the West Side. Anthony Marks was charged with attempted murder for that incident.
Less than a week before that, a detainee who allegedly concealed a gun during transport to a Northwest Side police station opened fire and wounded three officers. Lovelle Jordan, in turn, was shot multiple times at the 25th District police station, 5555 W. Grand Ave., police said. Jordan, 25, faces six counts of attempted murder.
This is a developing story.
