Get ready for reading, writing — and the reaper.
A Yale University honcho has warned students to “emotionally prepare” for people to die from COVID-19 when in-person classes begin this month, according to the Yale Daily News.
“We all should be emotionally prepared for widespread infections — and possibly deaths — in our community,” Laurie Santos, head of the school’s sprawling Silliman College, wrote in an email. “You should emotionally prepare for the fact that your residential college life will look more like a hospital unit than a residential college.”
The grim email, which was sent to students on July 1, outlined the university’s controversial plan to reopen classes and on-campus housing on August 31, according to the outlet.
It also noted the school’s fall semester plan includes testing students for the virus once a week — which has since been upped to two times weekly.
But similar protocols ended badly this week when Notre Dame and the University of North Carolina were forced to cancel in-person classes after hundreds of students tested positive for the coronavirus.
At least 147 students tested positive at Notre Dame and at least 130 students saw the same results at UNC, where the school newspaper ripped administrators for causing a “clusterf–k’.”
