Why there are more Coronavirus cases in America than reported 1

What the CDC has been tracking

The CDC has been focused on located infected people traveling back to the USA from China and those people’s close contacts. This was a good strategy in the early stages of the outbreak but as of last Wednesday the first US case of unknown origin was announced – this means the person had not traveled to China and did not have any known exposure to someone infected with coronavirus. Since Wednesday more cases of unknown origin have been announced across the US, as of Monday morning the number of cases in the US has increased to 89.

What makes coronavirus so dangerous at spreading

This data suggest the coronavirus is now out in our communities and that everybody is at risk. We don’t know who might be carry it, and we don’t know who we can get it from. The main problem with fighting this virus is that once a person is infected they can be asymptomatic for up to 21 days, this means you show no signs of symptoms, but you can still spread it to others. The coronavirus can be spread by surface contact and is also airborne. When you combine these issues you have a recipe for a huge outbreak, which we are just seeing the early stages of now.
