Toronto Animal Services received 13,712 calls regarding sick and hurt raccoons in 2020, compared to 4,172 the year prior. However, the number of reports is most likely connected to city residents not leaving the city as often and staying within their own neighborhoods, thus noticing their surroundings more, because of lockdown restrictions, according to the Toronto Star.
