The purchase of the building at 555 W. Monroe St. in the West Loop Gate neighborhood from Principal Financial Group is scheduled to close Wednesday. State officials eventually expect to move more than 1,000 employees to the 17-story, 429,316-square-foot building, previously home to regional offices of PepsiCo, from the Thompson Center and leased offices in seven downtown buildings.
