SAN FRANCISCO – San Francisco Mayor London Breed on Wednesday night revealed she has been tested for COVID-19 following her potential exposure to the deadly virus.
In a series of tweets, Breed said she and another person diagnosed with the disease attended the same event.
“Following consultation with the (San Francisco) Department of Public Health, I’ve taken a COVID-19 test and am waiting for the results,” Breed said.
Today, I was informed that recently I attended an event that was also attended by an individual who was aware that they had tested positive for COVID-19.

Breed said she is taking all precautions suggested by the department for those who have “moderate to low exposure” to the virus, including “practicing strict masking and social distancing practices.” She also plans to limit public events for the next 10 days.
“I know people want to be out in public right now, but this disease is killing people,” she said. “It’s simply reckless for those who have tested positive go out and risk the lives of others. I cannot stress this enough: if you test positive, it’s on you to stay home and not expose others.”
As of Wednesday, there were 30,814 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the Bay Area and 625 deaths related to the virus, according to cumulative cases as reported by 10 counties in the region.
