Saints vs. Lions is on after player’s false positive
COVID-19 test 1

It looks like the NFL has avoided another catastrophe this weekend.

According to multiple reports, the COVID-19 test that had come back as positive on Saints fullback Michael Burton on Saturday was actually a false positive. Therefore, the Saints vs. Lions game set for 1 p.m. in Detroit will be played as scheduled.

Burton’s rapid test was also negative, according to The Athletic.

An ongoing outbreak of COVID-19 cases already prompted the postponement of Titans-Steelers earlier this week. Eighteen Tennessee players and staff have tested positive for the virus so far.

The marquee Chiefs-Patriots matchup has also been pushed to Monday or Tuesday of this week after star quarterback Cam Newton tested positive on Saturday.

There were no other positive COVID-19 test results Sunday morning around the NFL, according to multiple reports.
