Maybe they are just friends, and Rumer Willis was simply offering Armie Hammer a friendly shoulder to lean on as he goes through a divorce.
But Willis, the oldest daughter of Bruce Willis and Demi Moore, and Hammer looked “close” as they were photographed strolling around West Hollywood together Wednesday, reported Page Six, which published the photos. In one photo, the “Call Me By Your Name” star walked with his arms around Willis’ waist.

Page Six said that reps for Willis and Hammer, 34, did not return calls for comment on whether they are just friends, or if there is something more going on. A “source” told Entertainment Tonight that Willis and Hammer met through mutual friends and that “the relationship” is “very casual.” Neither is ready to jump into anything serious and are just “enjoying each other’s company,” the source said, adding Hammer also doesn’t want to do anything that would hurt his estranged wife.

Up until Page Six published photos of her with Hammer, Willis’ spring and summer had been memorable in other ways, and for the same reasons that the rest of the world’s past few months have been, well, memorable. The actress and “Dancing With the Stars” Season 20 champion was sheltering-in-place due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Unlike the rest of us, however, Willis was encamped with her famous divorced parents and her two younger sisters in the family’s home in the resort town of Hailey, Idaho.
Her sister, Scout, 28, revealed in an interview that their parents had everyone gather in Idaho to wait out the lockdown. “Everyone” included Bruce Willis’ current wife, Emma Heming, and their two young daughters, 8 and 5. Images of the happy blended family lockdown were shared on the Instagram accounts of Scout, sister Tallulah and their mother, Demi Moore.
More recently, Rumer Willis posted a photo of herself in a bikini, celebrating her 32nd birthday on Aug. 16. In her caption, she expressed gratitude for the love of her sisters and the support of her fans. “I feel more like myself than I ever had, feel more love for myself than I have ever had and so much gratitude for this beautiful place I get to spend this day and the magical and wonderful people I am sharing it with,” she wrote.
Hammer’s summer hasn’t been so joyous and his is one of the celebrity relationships that have come apart during the coronavirus pandemic.
His wife of 10 years, Elizabeth Chambers, filed for divorce in Los Angeles County on July 10, People reported. Chambers, 37, cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for the divorce and asked to be awarded primary physical custody of their children, Harper, 5, and Ford, 3, court documents show. The couple also posted a joint statement on their Instagram accounts, announcing their split:
“Thirteen years as best friends, soulmates, partners and then parents,” the statement read. “It has been an incredible journey, but together, we’ve decided to turn the page and move on from our marriage. As we enter into this next chapter, our children and relationship as co-parents and dear friends will remain our priority.”
Hammer also celebrated his birthday in August, two days after Rumer Willis. In his Instagram birthday post, he shared a photo of himself, walking in Joshua Tree National Park. He also revealed that he had spent the previous two months, living with a friend and working construction.
Hammer and Chambers seem to be true to their word of keeping things amicable between them. Chambers took to Instagram to wish her soon-to-be-ex-husband a happy birthday, sharing a photo of him with their children blowing out the candles on a cake.
“Happy 34th Birthday @armiehammer,” Chambers wrote in her post. “You are loved.”
