Rapids postpone third consecutive match due to another positive COVID-19 test

Rapids postpone third consecutive match due to another
positive COVID-19 test 1

The Colorado Rapids’ home match against LAFC scheduled for Wednesday night was postponed following another positive COVID-19 test from a club staffer.

This marks the third straight postponement of a Rapids match due to a positive virus test. In the last 14 days, four players and 12 staffers have tested positive. According to CDC guidelines, the latest positive tests fall within the incubation period for the original outbreak.

The Rapids last played Sept. 23 when they beat San Jose 5-0. Since then they have only had three practices and had games against Portland and Kansas City postponed.

Colorado no longer has any open dates left on its schedule before Decision Day on Nov. 8, so it is unclear what date Wednesday night’s match might be moved to. The Rapids will either have a four-match week, an if-necessary game following the regular season or MLS will have to evaluate the standings by points per match.

LAFC did not travel to Colorado on Wednesday. The Los Angeles Galaxy are scheduled to face the Rapids in Commerce City on Saturday. The Rapids have 10 matches left on their 2020 slate.
