With at least 23,822 deaths, according to Johns Hopkins University, Spain is one of the European countries hit worst by the coronavirus pandemic.

This has led to one of the most stringent lockdown orders on the continent. Children were not allowed to leave home for any reason, but beginning on April 26, Spain eased some of those mandates. Children younger than 14 could leave their homes for one hour but not go farther than a kilometer from home. It was the first time in weeks they could play outside.

With the new freedom, children enjoyed running around and riding on their scooters. Some families walked down the beach while others found playgrounds to enjoy. Beneath the masks and the social distancing rules they still have to abide by, the youths seemed to be smiling about the change.
