Nuggets small forward Will Barton has been dealing with right knee soreness and won’t play in Wednesday’s opening scrimmage against the Wizards out of precaution, according to a league source.
Barton’s only been able to go through parts of practice since the Nuggets arrived in Orlando over two weeks ago. Barton missed four games due to right knee inflammation prior to the All-Star break.
The team was only expected to have nine healthy players heading into Wednesday’s scrimmage against the Wizards, although it’s possible they’re cautious with other players.
Gary Harris and Torrey Craig, who both cleared quarantine Tuesday, also won’t be available for the scrimmage.
The Denver Post reported on Wednesday that rookie forward Michael Porter Jr. was en route to Orlando. The team is likely to take a cautious approach with him, just as they did when All-Star center Nikola Jokic arrived last weekend.
In addition, reserve forward Vlatko Cancar is dealing with a left foot injury and has yet to arrive in Orlando.
