New York City’s coronavirus positivity rate has ticked up to 3.11%, according to City Hall.
That is a slight increase from Friday’s number of 3.02%, which is measured on a seven-day average.
There were 1,345 new COVID-19 cases and 118 patients admitted to the hospital with the potentially deadly virus, Mayor De Blasio tweeted Saturday.
“This weekend is critical to fighting back #COVID19.” the mayor tweeted.
The mayor’s office said Friday night the positivity rate had topped 4% in 40 ZIP codes including Breezy Point in the Rockaways and Ozone Park in Queens.
De Blasio also warned the city could be facing “orange zone” restrictions from Gov. Cuomo as soon as the first week in December. That would mean that indoor dining would be suspended and gyms and hair salons would have to close.
Cuomo would not commit Friday to a timeline for any potential closures saying it depended what happened after the Thanksgiving holiday.
