The Nets coronavirus situation keeps getting worse.
DeAndre Jordan joined Spencer Dinwiddie as the latest Brooklyn players to announce Monday that they tested positive for COVID-19. Jordan said he will not be attending the NBA’s July restart in Orlando, while Dinwiddie’s status remains unclear.
“Found out last night and confirmed again today that I’ve tested positive for Covid while being back in market,” Jordan tweeted Monday night. “As a result of this, I will not be in Orlando for the resumption of the season.”
The 31-year-old Jordan did not say if he – like Dinwiddie — is experiencing coronavirus symptoms.
He joins a large contingent of Nets who will not be at Disney’s Wide World of Sports when the NBA season is expected to resume on July 31. Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving and Nic Claxton will all miss it because of injury and Wilson Chandler has opted out because of coronavirus concerns.
If Dinwiddie, 27, and Jordan both miss the restart, the Nets will be fighting for a playoff spot without their starting point guard and center. Jordan started over Jarrett Allen in the Nets final two games before the NBA season went on pause due to the pandemic.
Jordan was averaging 8.3 points and 10 rebounds in 22 minutes per game when the season stopped.
