A convicted sex offender was arrested after he allegedly answered his door nude and invited trick-or-treating children into his home.
The 48-year-old Provo, Utah, man was booked into the Utah County Jail for investigation of felony lewdness and felony lewdness involving a child, according to TV station KSL. Police say he was already on probation for lewdness involving a child in 2018.
The report from Provo police said the encounter occurred shortly before 7 p.m. Saturday, when several children were making early trick-or-treat rounds. When they knocked on the man’s door, he allegedly opened it naked and invited the children in.
One of the children alerted a parent, who went to the house and told the homeowner to shut off his lights and stay inside.
Police called to the scene spoke to eight minors — three of them under 14 — who said they saw the man naked. He told police he’d just gotten out of the shower and invited the children inside because “that’s where the candy was.”
In the previous offense, the man pleaded guilty to misdemeanor lewdness involving a child. He had allegedly touched himself and made “sexually suggestive sounds” while watching a 10-year-old child in the locker room at the Provo Recreation Center.
