Investigators confirmed that a man was rushed to Medical Center of the Rockies after he was shot by a Loveland police officer on Monday night.
Just before 7 p.m., a 911 call came in to the dispatch center reporting a disturbance in a residence in the 1600 block of Tennessee Street in Loveland, according to a press release from Fort Collins Police Services, which is leading the investigation into the shooting.
A Loveland police officer contacted the man, who was armed with a knife, in his back yard, according to the press release. Investigators have not released details of the officer’s contact with the man.
“During the course of the interaction, the police officer fired several shots, striking the man,” police reported in the written release.
Authorities confirmed that the man was taken to Medical Center of the Rockies, where he was being treated for his injuries.
No other injuries were reported, and investigators said there was no ongoing public threat.
The 8th Judicial District’s Critical Incident Response Team will investigate the shooting with Fort Collins Police Services taking the lead. More information will be released at a later date.
