Letter: We’ve lived in Sunnyvale for 50 years–this protest
made us proud 1

My husband and I have lived in Sunnyvale since 1968.

Over these many years our city has hardly been known for its political activism, although, like many cities, it’s had its share of problems regarding racism.

However, what happened last Friday, made us truly Sunnyvale proud. More than 1,000 Sunnyvalians of all ethnic backgrounds and ages assembled downtown for a Peaceful Protest March in Solidarity with Black Lives Matter. They brought hand-crafted signs and chanted enthusiastically “No Justice, No Peace.”

The Sunnyvale Police peacefully paved the way to Sunnyvale City Hall where many participants gave eloquent speeches in support of racial equality and unity.

Mayor Larry Klein and City Councilman Otto Lee were there lending their support to these peaceful protesters.

This gave us old-timers hope that this new generation of Americans will work to advance the neverending work of seeking justice and equality for the whole community.
