Re: “Ominous coronavirus data trends we must not ignore” (Dan Borenstein, Opinion section, Page A14, June 14)

Being a retired professor who taught statistics, Daniel Borenstein’s column is an accurate assessment.

Our college district’s board stopped in-person classes on March 18, shifting those students to our already substantial online courses. Until the risk of contracting the coronavirus is acceptably low, we plan to have almost all courses and work be online for our 50,000 students and 3,500 personnel.

Summer courses will be online only. In-person courses are planned for nursing and emergency medical technicians, and in other subjects where students in their classes will wear appropriate protective equipment, wash hands, etc., because they will be employed in jobs with significant coronavirus risks.
