LANCASTER, PA- In response to an officer-involved shooting of an armed suspect, violent rioters, including some identified as Antifa and Black Lives Matter supporters, attacked the police station in Lancaster and threw bricks at police officers.

According to reports, the Lancaster Police Department said that a group of more than 100 individuals refused to leave the area after an unlawful assembly had been declared. The department said in a statement:
“The group failed to follow the instructions and chemical agents were used to disperse the crowd. Members of the crowd damaged a county vehicle parked in the front of the police station. Bricks where thrown through the front of the police station and into the post office window.”
The statement continued:
“People on the ramp, W. Chestnut St. and the park adjacent to the station threw water bottles, glass bottles, rocks, bricks, gallon jugs of liquids, and parts of plastic road barricades at officers.
OC spray was also deployed at protesters that refused to move from the ramp and were physically challenging officers that were moving to clear people from the ramp.”
The statement added:
“At the time of this release, protesters are still gathered outside the station and have thrown traffic barricades, large planters and trash receptacles across the ramp. Protesters have also damaged a County of Lancaster vehicle parked on W. Chestnut St.”

The violent riots and looting broke out after the officer-involved shooting of an armed man. Authorities released the body-cam footage within a few hours after the incident to help quell the disturbances that had already began.
The body-cam footage shows a man running out of the house and charging at the police officer with a knife. Police initially responded to the home after a woman called 9-1-1 to report that her brother was allegedly becoming aggressive with their mother and trying to break into the home.

The Lancaster Bureau of Police said in a statement:
“A male subject then exited the front door of the residence and began chasing the officer. Preliminary information and body worn camera footage indicates that the male subject had a knife in his right hand as he was chasing the officer.”
The statement continued:
“The subject, identified as a 27-year-old Lancaster man, did not survive his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The officer was the only police officer on the scene at the time of the shooting and his body worn camera was activated and recorded the encounter.”

According to reports, eight people are now facing charges following the violent protests that took place on September 13th in Lancaster City. Disorder outside of the police station continued to grow after officers declared an unlawful assembly.
Police said that protesters continued to throw items at police officers as well as cause damage to the police station, the U.S. Post Office building, and multiple businesses throughout downtown. Rioters proceeded to fill a dumpster with wood and other trash bags before setting the entire dumpster on fire.

The following people have been arrested in relation to the dumpster fire and riots outside of the police station:
Jamal Newman, 24; Barry Jones, 30; Frank Gaston, 43; Yoshua Montague, 23; Matthew Modderman, 31; Talia Gessner, 18; Kathryn Patterson, 20; and Taylor Enterline, 20.
Police said that they are currently reviewing video of the riots in an effort to identify additional suspects.

PORTLAND, OR – Riots that occurred on September 5th in Portland played out in the usual form that many have come to expect. Those among the crowd of rioters threw rocks, firebombs, launched fireworks toward police officers, and numerous people wound up getting arrested.

There were reportedly 59 people arrested between the evening of September 5th and the early morning hours of the 6th in Portland, with the Portland Police Bureau sharing some of the photos of the damage that occurred, and some of the items seized from arrestees.

A police sergeant’s hand was burned via a commercial grade firework that was shot toward officers. The launched firework managed to burn it’s way through the sergeant’s gloved hand and caused injury.

The crowd of rioters had reportedly gathered at Ventura Park at approximately 9:00 p.m. on the evening of September 5th, and began heading toward the East Portland Community Policing Center. Many rioters were adorned in various forms of body armor and carrying around shields as well.

It only took approximately 15 minutes after the crowd had gathered at the park initially before assaults against police started, which began with rioters tossing firebombs at officers who were strategically positioned to hinder the crowd from reaching the East Precinct.

This is the riot where video footage went viral of a rioter who managed to catch their legs on fire from their own arsonist attacks.

Things like mortar fireworks were also launched at police officers and even slingshots were used to attack the police. It didn’t take long for police to declare the protest as a riot and warned those present that tear gas was about to be deployed. This of course was ignored by the volatile crowd and police were forced to utilize tear gas.

Nearly everyone that was booked into the county jail wound up getting released on their own recognizance or got bailed out.
There were also those simply listed as being “cited and released” by police, which those cited had charges ranging between disorderly conduct and/or interfering with a peace officer.
Two juveniles were also reportedly arrested, with a 15-year-old being booked into the juvenile detention center for rioting, second-degree disorderly conduct, and an active warrant.
The second juvenile, 17, was released to a parent after allegations of rioting, second-degree disorderly conduct and interfering with a peace officer.
