The march was one of several that took place throughout the city, with more planned for the rest of the weekend. Most of them were directly sparked by the May 25 death of Floyd, a black man who gasped, “I can’t breathe,” while a white Minneapolis police officer knelt on his neck, or by proposals for police reforms in Chicago.
