Note: We asked Robin to describe the types of art classes she has been taking. “Before the pandemic, I regularly took watercolor classes at the Chicago Botanic Garden and Japanese ink painting (Sumi-e) at The Japanese Culture Center in Chicago. Starting this spring, the pandemic made going to those classes in person impossible,” she wrote in an email. “Happily, this summer my favorite teacher at CBG has been able to offer her classes online thru Zoom. Similarly, the JCC has done that, too, so now I attend Zoom Sunday Sumi-e with 10 other people, who are not only from the Chicago area, but also from Champaign, St. Louis and the Black Hills of South Dakota. I’ve even branched out a little and have found artists who live outside of Chicago who offer classes. Right now I’m taking a drawing workshop taught by a wonderful artist in New Jersey. I’ve also joined an online art school run by one of my favorite English watercolor artists.”
