On Monday, Immigration Equality, the nation’s leading LGBTQ immigrant rights organization, sent a letter addressed to several representatives of the Department of Homeland Security stating that, “HIV-positive asylum seekers who receive grossly negligent medical care in immigration detention and are particularly vulnerable to COVID-19 must be released immediately.”
