Running back Saquon Barkley and safety Xavier McKinney were removed from the COVID-19 list on Friday morning and returned to the team’s practice facility, the Giants announced on Twitter.
Running back Gary Brightwell remained on the COVID list.
The Giants have had a slew of positive test results this week, but it appears as if all but one of them were false positives. Running backs coach Burton Burns is a confirmed positive and will miss Sunday’s home game against the Raiders.
Barkley is looking to return from an ankle injury. The loss of practice time as the Giants have dealt with the COVID situation has not helped his chances.
On Friday, Judge told the team web site: “[Playing on Sunday] is kind of in limbo with a couple of those [players]. We don’t have any final answers from the league. They’re allowing us to bring guys into practice, but that doesn’t mean they’re going to be solidified for the game based on some other things. I’d say right now, we’re kind of preparing everybody we have to play.”
