Dr. Anthony Fauci weighed in on the question of whether President Trump should receive one of the new coronavirus vaccines.
Trump has already tested positive for, and recovered from, coronavirus infections, as have much of his inner circle.
“Ultimately he might want to get vaccinated and I had recommended publicly that both he and vice president Pence ultimately get vaccinated,” Fauci told a CNN panel which included US Surgeon General Jerome Adams.
Fauci was quick to stress that whatever Trump decided to do was a “personal choice,” and it would be “between the president and his physicians.”
Trump may still have residual antibodies left from his coronavirus treatment in October, Fauci added.
Vice President Pence and top congressional leaders publicly took coronavirus vaccines Friday, in an effort to build up confidence among Americans in the treatment.
“I didn’t feel a thing. Well done,” Pence told staff at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center after getting the jab.
