A Denver police officer working a traffic accident on Interstate 25 overnight was hit by a suspected intoxicated driver.
The officer was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries, police said.

The officer was investigating a crash and out of a patrol vehicle when hit, according to police. The driver who hit the officer fled the scene, I-25 and Colfax Avenue, but was later taken into custody and arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, police said.
