The Delta plane was gearing up to leave Detroit Metro Airport for Atlanta when it was forced to turn around on July 23, Delta spokeswoman Amanda Portis told CNN. It came a day after the airline CEO, Ed Bastian said staff has been “steadily and rather aggressively” stepping up enforcement of its mask policy in a bid to make crew and travelers feel safe amid the pandemic.
